Contrary to a popular belief, it IS in fact possible to show multiple calendars from a Google Calendar account, including the special calendars (i.e. Weather and Week of the Year). And it is really quite simple to do.

I’m going to start off by assuming you know how to add a Google account to Lion. If not, that’s pretty simple too: just click Apple->System Preferences, in the System Preferences Window select Mail, Contacts, and Calendar (under Internet & Wireless), then add away.

Once you have your accounts setup, go ahead and open up iCal. Once in iCal, select the iCal menu, then click Prefences… In the window that comes up, click on Accounts, then select the account that has the calendars you want to show up. You should see a tab that says Delegation, click that and wait a moment for iCal to load the list of your calendars. Just click the ones you want to show up. Repeat for each account your want to view calendars from.

When you’re finished, just close the preferences window, and to toggle calendars, just click the aptly-named Calendars button, then in the Popover that appears, you’ll find the calendars you selected. (called Delegates for some reason)

Well, while working on getting this blog setup, I ran into the infamous WordPress Permalink Internal Server Error. I tried plenty of fixes from the web (thanks for nothing, Google), most saying that it was a problem with the .htaccess file, though I knew for a fact my was correct. Eventually, I went back and took a look at the offending post, and noticed it was marked as “Draft”. I changed it to “Published”, and BAM! everything worked.

Hope someone finds this helpful, please comment if you did,

-Ryan

As is typical in all things programming, I feel I should start this blog off with a little “Hello World” program. While programs use Hello World to check that the system is working, and to give a basic understanding of the system being used (something I will discuss later), I will use this time space to give a brief introduction to myself.

I am a Software Developer (aka Programmer, Coder, Code Monkey, etc.) based in Oregon, in the United States. I recently graduated from Portland State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I am currently working on developing iPhone Apps (yeah, I know it’s a bit cliché, but it’s what I’m interested in), as well as Mac Apps (again, a bit cliché) and Windows programs.

My interests (besides programming) include Science, Mathematics, Philosophy, Reading (mostly Technical and Science Fiction), Electronics, Television, Video Games, and more (again, horribly, horribly cliché, but I will explain that in a further post). I’m sure there will be many posts on these and many other subjects.

The purpose of the blog, well, is kind of general. I will use this space both personally and professionally, as a place to communicate, to teach, and to learn.

Whether anyone actually reads this, frankly I don’t care. I’m doing this because I want to.
